The goal of poker is to win the pot by having the best hand at the end of the game.

The hand is made up of five cards, which are ranked from highest to lowest as follows:

• Ace (A)
• King (K)
• Queen (Q)
• Jack (J)
• Ten (T)
• Nine (9)
• Eight (8)
• Seven (7)
• Six (6)
• Five (5)
• Four (4)
• Three (3)
• Two (2)

There are four betting rounds in a poker game:

1. Pre-flop: Before any cards are dealt, players have the opportunity to bet.
2. Flop: In the middle of the table, three face-up cards are dealt. Gamers can choose to check or wager.
3. Turn: A fourth card is dealt face up in the center of the table. Players have the opportunity to bet, check, or fold.
4. River: A fifth card is dealt face up in the center of the table. 

At the conclusion of the game, the pot is won by the person with the best hand.
